The Program in Computational Genomics (PCG) is sponsoring a journal club to keep up-to-date on the latest and greatest papers in the literature published in a collection of journals that are of interest to researchers in this field. This includes papers about new analytic methods/strategies, successful study designs, successful and maybe even not-so-successful applications of novel analytic approaches.  The focus of this journal club is directly on reading the literature and finding the "must-read" papers out of the enormous number published in our field.

The goals of the PCG journal club are:

  • to get in the habit of reading the literature
  • to learn to filter the good papers from the less good papers
  • to talk about papers without the aid of a PowerPoint presentation
  • to help all keep up with a rapidly evolving field since it is easy to miss some critical ones with so many papers  published each month
