The CHGR is an interdisciplinary program involving multiple clinical and basic science departments. It has an active research program to identify genes in neurological, pulmonary, behavioral, cardiovascular, cancer, and ophthalmological diseases. It also has an active program in the development and testing of new statistical methods to detect genetic effects in complex diseases. The CHGR is a designated International Genetic Epidemiology Center with substantial core facilities for family ascertainment, DNA handling, data analysis, and computing/bioinformatics (including a 55-node parallel computer). The CHGR occupies more than 9,000 square feet of newly appointed research wet and dry lab space. The successful applicant will also enjoy the benefits of the collaborative Vanderbilt atmosphere.
