Introducing BioVU
Friday, September 11, 2009, 4:49pm
BioVU, Vanderbilt's DNA biobank and associated de-identified clinical data, has been developed over the last 5 years as a tool for genomic and pharmacogenomic research. The development process included genotyping on approximately 7,800 samples at 100 loci (SNPs) and these data are now available for investigator use. The genotypes have been through a rigorous quality control process, and the data set is available to VUMC investigators following approval of the request using the BioVU application process.
BioVU records are populated with dense phenotypic information, representing a wide range of diseases and conditions in the electronic medical record.
Currently, only these initial genotypes are available for use; however BioVU samples will be available for new genotyping by early 2010.

Please contact for more information, and forward this message to any colleagues who might also be interested in BioVU. We look forward to helping you use BioVU as a resource tool.
